Solving complex problems applies students’ skills, cognitive processes, and actions to the structure, dynamics, and variables of a given problem in order to take it from its actual state to its goal state. Complex problems have multiple, dynamic features that change over time, require active exploration before they can be solved, and often have multiple valid solutions.
